Everything you need to know about micro excavation services across Brisbane and South East Queensland.

General Questions
Micro excavation uses a compact Kubota mini excavator to dig, trench, and level in tight spaces where standard machines can't fit — like narrow side gates, small backyards, and sloped blocks. It's the ideal solution for residential excavation jobs in typical Brisbane suburban properties where a full-size excavator simply won't fit.
We service Brisbane, Logan, Redlands, Ipswich, Scenic Rim, the Gold Coast, and surrounding areas across South East Queensland. We're based in Bridgeman Downs, Brisbane. If your suburb isn't listed, get in touch and we'll let you know if we can make it out to you.
Yes — Micro Excavation QLD holds public liability insurance and is licensed for residential excavation work across Queensland. Our ABN is 52 601 981 674. You can work with us with full confidence that you're covered.
Simply call us on 0447 609 225 or email info@microexcavationqld.com with your project details. All quotes are free and no-obligation. We aim to respond same day and can usually visit your site within a few days for a proper assessment.

Yes — spoil removal is included as part of our service. All excavated soil, vegetation, and debris is removed from your property and disposed of properly. Your site is left clean and ready for the next trade to come straight in.
Access & Equipment
Access & Equipment
Absolutely — tight access is our specialty. Our Kubota mini excavator fits through a standard single gate (as narrow as 900mm in some cases) and can operate comfortably in compact suburban backyards, narrow side passages, and areas with limited turning space where standard excavators can't go.
We operate a Kubota mini excavator — one of the most compact and versatile excavators available for residential work. It's powerful enough to handle real excavation jobs efficiently, yet small enough to access the tight spaces that are common in Brisbane suburban properties. We also have a tipper truck for spoil removal.
We take care to minimise damage when accessing your property. Rubber tracks on the Kubota mini excavator cause minimal damage compared to standard steel-tracked machines. We'll discuss the best access route with you during the site assessment to avoid unnecessary impact on your lawn, garden, or driveway.
Services
Services & Jobs
In Queensland, retaining walls under 1 metre in height generally don't require council approval. Walls over 1 metre — or those near boundaries, easements, or in flood-prone areas — may require a development application. We recommend checking with Brisbane City Council or your local council before work begins. We can advise during your site assessment.
Yes. Poor backyard drainage is one of the most common issues we fix across Brisbane. We can trench and install agricultural drainage (ag pipe) to redirect subsurface water, combined with surface grading to improve runoff. Call us for a free site assessment and we'll recommend the best drainage solution for your property.
We specialise in the excavation and site preparation side — clearing, excavating, grading, and compacting the base so it's ready for your concretor. We don't lay the concrete ourselves, but we can recommend trusted local concretors in Brisbane and South East QLD if needed.
No — we specialise in the excavation and base preparation for artificial turf. We excavate, grade, and compact the sub-base to your turf supplier's specifications so your installer can lay the turf straight away. We can recommend trusted local turf suppliers and installers if needed.
We specialise in small to medium residential excavation jobs — the type of work that's too big to do by hand but doesn't need a full-size excavator. No job is too small. If you're unsure whether your job fits our scope, just give us a call and we'll let you know.
Pricing & Timing
Pricing & Timing
Pricing varies depending on the type of job, size of the area, access difficulty, soil conditions, and spoil removal required. The best way to get an accurate figure is a free on-site quote — call us on 0447 609 225 and we'll come out to assess your property. All quotes are free with no obligation.
Most standard residential excavation jobs can be completed in a single day. Larger projects such as full backyard levelling, extensive drainage systems, or large retaining walls may take 2–3 days. We'll give you an accurate timeframe during your free quote so you can plan accordingly.
We're often booked 1–2 weeks in advance, particularly during busy periods. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to secure your preferred date. For urgent jobs, we'll always do our best to fit you in as quickly as we can.
